"What is the Islamic cure for overthinking?"
Overthinking is the mind trying to control what only Allah controls. The Islamic cure: (1) Tawakkul, consciously transfer your worry to Allah with the phrase 'Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakil'. (2) Dhikr, repetitive remembrance interrupts the anxiety loop. (3) Physical salah, the body bowing, prostrating, occupies the mind. (4) Istikharah, for decisions: make the prayer and then act, releasing attachment to outcome.
Overthinking is, at its root, a crisis of tawakkul. The mind spins because it believes it must solve what only Allah can resolve. Islamic tradition calls this 'waswas' (whispering), the Shaytan's tool of distraction. The antidote is not silence but replacement: replace the negative loop with positive remembrance.
When you notice an overthinking loop: Stop. Say Audhu billahi minash-shaytanir-rajim. Then say SubhanAllah 10 times slowly. The physical act of speaking dhikr forces the brain to shift from default-mode rumination to focused repetition, a well-documented interruption of the anxiety cycle.
